Our high-quality photo shoots are reasonably and competitively priced. Every session includes an in-depth consultation in person or over the phone prior to your shoot to discuss and understand your needs. We discuss your personal style and/or character type, specific roles or looks you’re trying to achieve, and your expectations for the session.

For additional accuracy and convenience, we shoot tethered to a computer. That means we’ll be able see and review the images as we shoot them! Since we’re able to review the images instantaneously, that means you get your personal proofing gallery generally same-day after your session. No more waiting around to see and select your final images for retouching.

Once you’ve selected your images for retouching, we go through and edit your finals included in your package. Each image is carefully edited for color correction, blemish removal, skin softening, contrast enhancement, and other improvements throughout the image. We pride ourselves on not over-retouching images and maintaining a clean, natural looking photo. After we’ve completed your retouch(es), we email you a link to download the hi-res and lo-res versions of your retouched images.

The average turnaround time from session to delivery is around 2 to 3 days. For 1 Look sessions it’s normally faster.

  • What are your rates?
My rates will always be listed and updated on this page. Feel free to shoot me an email at tyler@typierce.com or give me a call at 818.726.0546 to chat about what you’re looking for. A detailed written estimate will be supplied generally within 24hrs after we talk.
  • What is a “look”?
A ”look” is an outfit change for headshots. When you change your outfit, I also change the lighting to match your updated look. For example, if you’re wearing brighter colors for a commercial-type headshot, I’ll set the lighting up accordingly to compliment that style. If you change into a darker wardrobe for a more dramatic/theatrical look, I’ll change the lighting accordingly to then compliment that specific style as well. Minor changes like adding or subtracting a jacket or glasses does not count as a “look”.
  • How long does a photoshoot last?
Most sessions have listed time-frames. Please see above for times and rates. For headshots, keep reading.

The length of a headshot session varies based on three main factors: hair and makeup, how many looks we’re shooting, and how comfortable you are in front a camera. For the average person, there is generally a 10-20 minute warmup period when they start to relax and feel comfortable in front of the camera. For actors, models, and other people familiar with being front of a camera, this isn’t a problem. The first look is generally the longest. Though my rates aren’t based on the length of a session, this is a general guide as what to expect:

    H/MUA: 1 hour
    1 LOOK
    : 45 min (± 15 min)
    2 LOOKS: 1 hour (± 30 min)
    3 LOOKS: 1.5 hours (± 30 min)
    4 LOOKS: 2 hours (± 30 hr)

*Corporate portrait sessions vary based on location, setup, and number of employees/principals that we are being photographed.
  • What should I wear for my headshot?
It essentially boils down to dressing as the best version of yourself- whether you're getting ready for an important meeting with a big client or getting together with a friend for drinks at a trendy LA hotspot. Your headshot is a representation of you.

Generally, I suggest avoiding loud prints or patterns. Solid colors, simple cuts, and tasteful layers work best.

Regardless of session type, I recommend bringing a few backup options to your session: t-shirts, henleys, button-downs, blouses, jackets (casual and/or professional), etc.

, bring a variety of styles based on what you would realistically be cast as for your character-type and age-range. We’ll discuss details and outfit choices in-depth prior to your session. Commercial headshots are generally brighter and more colorful. Theatrical headshots are darker, more muted colors. Even if you’re only shooting one look, bring backups.

Professionals, same goes for you: bring a variety of styles. It depends on what industry you’re in and how you want to be portrayed in your headshot. We’ll discuss details and outfit choices in-depth prior to your shoot.
  • Is a makeup artist really that necessary?
YES. Having a makeup artist that knows how to style for headshot photography is invaluable. Saving money by not hiring a makeup artist could potentially end up costing you more if you need to retake your headshots with a makeup artist. Invest in a makeup artist, you’ll thank yourself when you get the final product. This goes more for women, but men benefit as well.
  • Is there a makeup artist and/or hair stylist that you recommend?
    Yes. My recommendations are:

Makeup Artist and Hair Stylist: Heather Borah
Makeup Artist and Hair Stylist: Kayti Pillor
Makeup Artist and Hair Stylist: Cheynne Johnson
Makeup Artist and Hair Stylist: Niki Rae
Makeup Artist and Hair Stylist: Nia Hicks

All are incredible. Look them up and check them out.
  • Is a deposit required?
To book a headshot session, there is a $50 non-refundable deposit. The deposit is applied towards the session. Deposits are payable online at: www.typierce.com/deposit

Other shoots vary. Generally, a 30% non-refundable deposit is due up-front and the remaining 70% balance is due upon delivery of the project. Other projects/clients may be invoiced at NET14 or NET30 after receipt of deliverables.

For Family and Event photography, the total is due the day of the shoot.
  • What is your cancellation policy?
If you need to cancel or reschedule your shoot or session, please let us know as soon as possible.

If you end up needing to cancel, you have 14 days to reschedule from the original session date. If you don’t, you forfeit any and all deposits and will have to schedule a new session with a new deposit.
  • Do you shoot on location/travel?
General headshots, no. Everything is shot in my studio in Burbank but can travel for an additional fee.

Corporate clients and companies, yes. I set up a portable studio at your location. That way we can photograph multiple employees, principals, and executives in a single day. A travel/setup fee applies.

Day rate shoots, no. Everything is shot in my studio in Burbank or a rented studio for maximum control of light and detail.

Family and Event photography, yes! We can shoot at a park, beach, field, mountain top, or wherever you'd like. However, a travel fee may be applied. Please check the above rates for current fees.

Food photography, yes, occasionally. Ideally this is shot in-studio with a kitchen for maximum control over lighting, detail, and styling. However, a portable studio can be brought on-site to your location for an additional setup/travel fee.
  • What forms of payment do you accept?
Cash, credit card, or Venmo - @typierce. Sorry, no checks.
  • Do you only shoot headshots?
Nope! I photograph marketing, advertising, food, products, lifestyle, events, and videos.
