What are your rates? My rates will always be listed and updated on this page. Feel free to shoot me an email at tyler@typierce.com or give me a call at 818.726.0546 to chat about what you’re looking for.
-
Do you offer any discounts?Discounts and promotions will be reflected here on the Rates page or at the Specials page.
Active duty military with ID, veterans, law enforcement, first responders, healthcare workers, teachers, and anyone who was let go from their job for not getting the COVID-19 vaccine are eligible to receive $50 off of their session in addition to any current promotions. If you believe you qualify for this discount, you must request it specifically. -
What is a “look”?A ”look” is an outfit change and/or lighting or background change to achieve a different style or feel. Minor changes like adding or subtracting a jacket or glasses does not count as a separate “look”.

What should I wear for my headshot? It essentially boils down to dressing as the best version of yourself and what makes you feel comfortable and confident. Whether you're getting ready for an important meeting with a big client or getting together with a friend for drinks at a trendy LA hotspot. Your headshot is a representation of you.
Generally, I suggest avoiding loud prints or patterns. Solid colors, simple cuts, and tasteful layers work best.
Regardless of session type, I recommend bringing a few backup options and varieties to your session.
Actors, bring a variety of styles based on what you would realistically be cast as for your character-type and age-range. Study similar characters in movies, commercials, and/or TV shows and see what they wear. Buy the same outfits and you won't have a problem. Even if you’re only shooting one look, bring a few options.
Professionals, bring a variety of styles. It depends on what industry you’re in and how you want to be portrayed in your headshot. We’ll discuss details and outfit choices prior to your shoot. -
How long does a headshot session last? The length of a headshot session varies based on three main factors: hair and makeup, how many looks we’re shooting, and how comfortable you are in front a camera. For the average person, there is generally a 10-20 minute warmup period when they start to relax and feel comfortable in front of the camera. For actors, models, and anyone familiar with being front of a camera, this isn’t a problem. The first look is generally the longest. Though my rates aren’t based on the length of a session, this is a general guide as what to expect:
1 LOOK: 45 min (± 15 min)
2 LOOKS: 1 hour (± 30 min)
3 LOOKS: 1.5 hours (± 30 min)
4 LOOKS: 2 hours (± 30 hr)
*Corporate portrait sessions on location are generally 10-15 minutes per employee. Principles and executives are generally between 20-30 minutes each. -
Is a makeup artist really that necessary?YES. Having a makeup artist that knows how to style for headshot photography is invaluable. Saving money by not hiring a makeup artist could potentially end up costing you more if you need to retake your headshots with a makeup artist. Invest in a makeup artist, you’ll thank yourself when you get the final product. This mostly applies more for women, but men benefit as well.

Who do you recommend for Hair and Makeup? My recommendations are:
Makeup Artist and Hair Stylist: Kayti Pillor
Makeup Artist and Hair Stylist: Cheyenne Johnson
Makeup Artist and Hair Stylist: Niki Rae
*If booking a hair and makeup artist for your session, please coordinate and perform services with them prior to your session time. -
Is a deposit required? To book a headshot session, there is a $100 non-refundable deposit. The deposit is applied towards the session. Deposits are payable online at: www.typierce.com/deposit
All other shoots vary. Please contact for details. -
How do I view my photos after the session?Every client receives a personal proofing gallery emailed to them within 24 hours of their session, generally same-day. Your gallery is securely hosted on my website and is always accessible. Currently, there is no time limit for how long your gallery is accessible. I do not charge "re-upload" or "storage" fees for your gallery.
If your name is John Smith, your personal client link will look something like this: www.typierce.com/johnsmith
If John Smith's session was on 01/20/22 then their session gallery will look something like this: www.typierce.com/johnsmith/12022 -
Do I get the original RAW images with my session? You get hi-res and lo-res versions of the final retouched images included in your session, not the RAW/original images. If you would like all of the original images from the session, you have the option to purchase them in JPEG format for an additional $250.
The reason I do not include the RAW/original images is because they are incomplete. Like most people, I do not want incomplete images being used, posted, or represented as my final work. Retouching is the final process that completes, enhances, and brings the overall image together and gives it its signature look. Additional retouches can be purchased for $50/ea. -
What is your cancellation policy? If you need to cancel or reschedule your session, please let us know as soon as possible.
You have 30 days from the original session date to reschedule and shoot your rescheduled session, subject to availability. If the rescheduled session falls outside of 30 days from the original session date a new deposit must be paid to schedule a new session. -
Do you shoot on location/travel?General headshots: Optional. Everything is shot in my studio in Newbury Park but will travel for an additional fee.
Companies with multiple employees: Yes. I set up a portable studio at your office or location of choice. That way we can photograph multiple employees, principals, and executives in a single day. A travel/setup fee applies.
Day rate shoots: Optional. Everything is shot in my studio in Newbury Park, a rented studio for maximum control of light and detail, or on-site for an additional fee.
Food photography: Yes. Ideally this is shot in-studio with a kitchen for maximum control over lighting, detail, and styling. However, a portable studio can be brought on-site to your location for an additional fee. -
What forms of payment do you accept?Cash, credit, or debit card. Sorry, no checks.
Please note that there is a 3% surcharge for credit/debit cards. -
Do you only shoot headshots?Nope! I photograph food, products, and commercial imagery. Fill out the Project Request form to get started.
